The Medicare Home Stretch

By November 20, 2025Newsletter

By the time you reach the end of November, you’re almost through the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, and the constant calls, mailers, and commercials will soon fade. Meeting new seniors as they join Medicare always brings joy, and we’ve helped hundreds of you tailor your coverage with confidence.

Before December 7, keep a few key deadlines in mind.

Enroll by December 7 if you want to:

  • Switch from one Advantage plan to another
  • Change your Part D drug plan
  • Move from a Medicare Supplement to an Advantage plan

No deadline applies if you want to move from one Medicare Supplement to another.

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (Jan 1–Mar 31)

Seniors enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan enter a new window on January 1. This period differs from the fall enrollment season and gives you a few important options.

You may switch to another Advantage plan if your doctor isn’t in network.

You may return to Original Medicare.

You may return to Original Medicare and apply for a Supplement, but you must medically qualify.

If you return to Original Medicare, you can also apply for a Part D drug plan.

Key Takeaways

Advantage plans continue to scale back benefits. Fitness perks, dental coverage, and OTC allowances have shrunk as companies adjust to the Inflation Reduction Act. Prescription drug plans remain unpredictable due to recent legislation.

Medicare Supplements remain steady and reliable. They’re simple to use, they avoid network issues, and they pay the bills. Satisfaction stays high. Keep an eye on your premium, though—every company is raising rates.
